Sleeves on at last!!!!

Image
Well Finally........................... I am sorry it took so long to post, Dec was a write-off due to family commitments. I have been trying to create the sleeves I want, but with little success. After at least 5 different test sleeves, I finally had one that fit, but then I had to design and install the articulated elbow. Again much work and fussing.  I finally was happy with the finished sleeves, but I had to attach them. At one point it was going so poorly that I almost quit the coat all together, but I am way to stubborn for that!!!! So after many months, I have the sleeves on. All that is left is to hem the sleeves and coat itself and then a few buttons and button holes and I'm done. My next project will be a new headlight mount and rear fender for my Harley, so let the SPARKS Fly!!!!1

Sleeve drafting

Image
Well the sleeve from the coat pattern I was using turned out so far from what i wanted that i decided to start from scratch. This is a sleeve draft based on the Rundschau system i found on the cutter and tailors forum. I have no idea what the finished sleeve will look like but the drafting was really fun!

Coat progress.... again. Well my coat project is progressing nicely. I have been taking my time with it, as I don't want to rush and get stressed out to finish, I want to enjoy the process. I have most of the body done, and have attached the collar. Here are a couple of pics from the other day. I still have to add some buttons and hem the body, the sleeves will be difficult as I want replicate the Denham's sleeves as much as possible, but I have no pattern so I will have to draft from scratch. Also I need to figure out what to do for the button holes. In my previous projects the buttons holes that I made with my machine turned out horribly, so I might do hand sew button holes this time.  Wish me luck.

Here us the picture that was supposed to go with the previous post.

Progress

Front of coat almost done. I just placed the buttons on here for the picture. Need to topstitch the front, and then i can put the body together. Sweet!

Button Holes

The button holes on the Denham's coat have an interesting feature. See picture. I spent a little time cutting, and a lot of time thinking, and was able to work it out on my second try. They are just hand stitched in the sample.
